Renewables investment can boost defensive security

Banks now more open to Chinese turbines
Half of banks investing in the offshore wind sector are more open to supporting projects with Chinese wind turbines than they were five years ago.
Speaking at the Seanergy conference in Paris, Bertrand Jacquet, director at Green Giraffe said that at the start of this decade no banks would look at funding an offshore wind project featuring Chinese wind turbines in Europe.
France must beef-up port funding
The French government has been urged to more than triple the amount of money it plans to spend on upgrading floating offshore wind infrastructure at the nation’s ports to over €1bn.
The call for an increase in the current €190m funding came from Sandrine Gourlet, chair of the management board at the Port of La Rochelle, at the first day of the Seanergy conference in Paris.
Spain urged to launch offshore auction
Representatives from EDF and the renewables arm of BayWa have urged the Spanish government to update the industry on its much-awaited offshore wind auction.
Aymeric Ducrocq of EDF Power Solutions said his company is currently “scouting and monitoring” offshore wind opportunities in Spain, but is waiting on Madrid to launch the country’s first ever offshore wind tender.
